Two bikers snatch Metropolitan Magistrate's cellphone in Delhi
Two people travelling on a bike snatched the cellphone of a Metropolitan Magistrate outside a restaurant in north Delhi's Civil Lines at around 9 pm on Monday.

The bikers are creating havoc in the national capital. In the recent past, the national capital has witnessed a number of snatching incidents involving bikers. Their latest victim is a metropolitan magistrate. The incident took place in north Delhi's Civil Lines area on Monday evening. According to a senior police official, the incident was reported at around 9 pm.

"The magistrate had gone to a restaurant. At around 9 pm he came out and was speaking to someone over the phone. Meanwhile, two persons who were travelling by bike appeared on the scene. They snatched the cellphone from the magistrate. Before the victim could understand as to what was going on, they vanished into thin air," said the senior police official.
The magistrate then informed the police about the incident. A police team was immediately sent to the crime scene. The police team after recording the statement of the magistrate lodged a case in this respect with the Civil Lines police station. The police team checked the CCTV of the nearby area to get a clue about the criminals. According to the information, two to four teams have been roped into the investigation.

'It has become a wild goose'
DCP of North Delhi spoke to Republic TV and said that a case under section 356/379 of the IPC was lodged with the local police station. The DCP said that they were checking the area and were recording the statements of people who live nearby in a bid to get a clue.

"Our best teams are working on it. We hope to get a clue about the culprits soon," said the DCP.

There has been a sudden increase in snatching cases in the recent past. The Delhi Police has claimed that they have curbed down the cases but the reality is something else. The source posted in north Delhi said that around 100 people were interrogated by the cops but to no avail.
"We checked the CCTV of the nearby area but the snatchers were not captured in them. It has become a wild goose chase for us," the source said.
