Two Nabbed For Stamp Forgery In Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur

Two people accused of counterfeiting and smuggling Indian stamp papers have been arrested in Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur: In an effort to curb counterfeiting of Indian stamp paper, two people accused of counterfeiting and smuggling Indian stamp papers have been arrested in Gorakhpur. 

The two accused have been identified as Nawab Arju and Raju Kumar. 

Police said that UP ATS received intelligence that a syndicate of smuggling counterfeit Indian stamp papers from Delhi was operating in Uttar Pradesh. 

Officials added that the accused, along with his alleged associates, are planning to form an interstate syndicate for supplying counterfeit Indian stamp papers and tickets all over the country.

The Gorakhpur police had announced a reward of Rs 25 thousand on the accused.

The authorities also confiscated several items from the accused, including counterfeit Indian stamp paper valued at Rs 6,94,000, counterfeit Indian stamp tickets worth Rs 72,000, three mobile phones, and one four-wheeler.

According to the police, six additional individuals are reportedly involved in the syndicate. The identified suspects include Kamrudhin, Sahabzade, Aish Mohammad, Ravindra Dikshit, Nandlal Prasad, and Santosh Gupta. The UP ATS is actively searching for these remaining suspects.
