Shortly after the UAPA Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday took to Twitter and said that we have to be united to take the fight against terrorism. In a strong-worded message, he added that if terrorist organisations grow two steps, then the nation has to move four steps ahead. Hitting out at the Congress, the Home Minister said that while BJP has always welcomed any amendments in the UAPA bill, the Grand Old Party changed the trends after it came into Opposition.

"If terrorist organisations will grow two steps, then we have to move four steps ahead. The BJP has been supporting every amendment to the UAPA, but the trend changed when Congress came in Opposition. We have to be united against terrorism because terrorism is not against human or the government, but against humanity," Amit Shah wrote on his Twitter.

In another tweet, he said that terrorism is not just a problem in India, but also a global problem. Warning the Congress, Amit Shah asked the Opposition party to not to abuse the law.

"Terror is not the problem of India alone but it is a global problem. Every country has made strong laws to fight terrorism. The Congress, which imposed a 19-month emergency by killing democracy in the country, is better not to abuse the law because its history is known to all," the Home Minister added.

Rajya Sabha passes UAPA bill
