Union Minister Lalan Singh Stresses On Domestic Solutions To Address Fodder Shortage

Panaji: Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh inaugurated the two-day national symposium of CLFMA of India in Goa . During the inaugural event, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, emphasized the need for such initiatives, which would aid the government in policy-making. Singh also explained the efforts made by the Government of India to promote domestic solutions in animal husbandry.
While addressing the inaugural event in Goa , Lalan Singh highlighted the central government's significant efforts to promote domestic solutions in animal husbandry and reduce reliance on imports. He also mentioned several schemes aimed at organizing the unorganized dairy sector and addressing the shortage of feed and fodder.
According to the ministry, outgoing chairman of CLFMA of India, Suresh Deora along with the Animal Husbandry Commissioner at the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Abhijit Mitra and former Joint Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying OP Choudhary were present at the event.
Emphasizing the importance of the livestock sector in the Indian economy, Suresh Deora noted that it provides employment for farmers and those involved in animal husbandry. “The industry has an annual turnover of Rs 12 lakh crore, and global demand for high-quality livestock products like eggs, meat, milk and cheese continues to rise,” Deora added.
The CLFMA of India, which is working to improve the livestock industry in the country, unanimously elected Divya Kumar Gulati as the new chairman in the 57th AGM on the second day of the national symposium. Gulati later asserted that finding alternative sources of animal feed is the main challenge.
