Unnao: Farmers stage protest to demand compensation for land acquired by UPSIDA

On Saturday, clashes broke out between police and farmers in Unnao, who std a protest. latter pelted stones at JCB machine that was supposed to be used for carrying out work for upcoming Trans Ganga City project. farmers stated that y had t received compensation for ir land acquired by Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA). Besides officers of Tehsil department, numerous security personnel rushed to site of protest.

A protester mentioned that y were demanding justice for last three years. Claiming that ir land had been forcefully acquired by UPSIDA, he stated that people wanted requisite compensation. At same time, he maintained that work for Trans Ganga City project could start after fulfillment of ir demands. Ar protester revealed that he was t getting any loans from bank owing to absence of any property in his name.

A protester remarked, "We are demanding justice from past 3 years as our land has been forcefully acquired by UPSIDA for trans-Ganga city project. We want compensation. UPSIDA can start work after fulfilling our demands. discussions were held during acquisition.” Ar protester added, "I am t getting loans from bank as we do t possess any land. So far, we have t received any compensation for our acquired land. I do t what to do w."
