UP: 29 Bahraich Cops Taken Off Active Duty

As many as 29 police personnel from Hardi and Ramgaon police stations in this Uttar Pradesh district, were taken off active duty.

Bahraich: As many as 29 police personnel, mostly constables from Hardi and Ramgaon police stations in this Uttar Presh district, were taken off active duty, days after areas under ir jurisdiction witnessed violence during Navratri .

When contacted, Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla on Monday described transfers as "routine".

According to a statement issued by office of district police superintendent, 14 personnel from Hardi police station and 15 from Ramgaon police station were transferred to Police Lines.

Rehua Mansoor, native village of Ramgopal Mishra who died in violence, falls under Ramgaon police station area while area where he was killed is under Hardi police station's jurisdiction.

"se are routine transfers. Constables have a two-year term in a police station. That period expired, so y have been sent to Police Lines. se transfers have nothing to do with Maharajganj (Mahsi) violence. A similar list of similar constables for or police stations will also be prepared." Mishra (22) was shot de in Maharajganj area of district's Mahsi tehsil on October 13 following a dispute over loud music during a Durga idol immersion procession.

incident h led to communal violence, followed by incidents of arson and vandalism.
