UP: Muslim man prepares for Dussehra, keeps family tradition alive
Jafar Ali, a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh is preparing the effigies that are used on Dussehra or Vijayadashami, to keep his family tradition alive in the state.

Jafar Ali, a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh is preparing sculptures that are used on Dussehra in state. According to reports, Ali, who hails from Mathura is doing it to keep his family tradition alive. According to him, his family has been making effigies for past three generations as an example of communal harmony and brorhood in country. Dussehra, also kwn as Vijayadashami, is celebrated across India to mark victory of Lord Rama over Ravana.
Showcasing Hindu-Muslim unity
According to Ali, his family has been doing it to showcase "Hindu-Muslim unity." According to reports, this year, Muslim man is making a 100-foot high effigy of Ravana which will be burnt near Uttar Pradesh's Ramlila ground. Ar worker, Aamir, who works with Ali since past 40 years stated that effigy is his religion. He went on to state that he finds distinction between Hindu and Muslims and only political leaders have been diving everyone under name of religion. Aamir furr revealed that his far used to make effigies as well.

About Dussehra
Dussehra, also called Vijayadashami, is a Hindu festival that celebrates victory of good over evil. It is celebrated by conducting pujas and plays of events of Ramayana (Ramlila) over nine-day Navaratri and burning effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad along with fireworks on tenth day to commemorate destruction of evil. festival is also celebrated through special prayer meetings and food offerings by people to gods at home or in temples throughout India.
