UP Shocker: Newly-wed Woman Molested by 4 Men on Delhi-Aligarh Train, Husband Thrashed

Aligarh: A 22-year-old newlywed woman was allegedly molested by four men around midnight when she and her husband were travelling from Delhi to Aligarh on a special passenger train, police said. Following incident, woman has filed a complaint at Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Aligarh and claimed that when her husband tried to resist miscreants, accused thrashed couple with belts in EMU passenger train on Tuesday night.
A GRP official said that a case was registered based on woman's complaint and one of accused, identified as Jitu, a resident of Usmanpur Khandauli in Agra, was arrested within hours of receiving complaint.

In her complaint, woman claimed that even after she and her husband deboarded train at Aligarh and ir family members were at platform to receive m, accused continued to thrash her husband. woman furr told that despite her pleing for help, terrified co-passengers remained as mute spectators and did not come to ir rescue.
Upon hearing her cries, a crowd gared at spot and accused fled but threatened to shoot her husband, woman claimed. She alleged that GRP personnel in Aligarh did not respond to ir pleas. However, soon after, couple's family members and some Samajwi Party members rushed to spot.

Former city president of Samajwi Party, Ajju Isha told reporters that Tuesday night's incident on train "points to growing lawlessness in state".

GRP Circle Officer (Etawah Circle) Uday Pratap Singh that a case under relevant sections has been filed against two named persons and some unnamed persons.
While Jitu has been arrested, or named accused Mahesh and unnamed accused were absconding and efforts are being me to nab m with help of CCTV footage, police officer said. accused have been booked under BNS 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 352 (intentional insult), police said.
