Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Sunday that the area designated for the Maha Kumbh in 2025 will be more than double that of the last gathering held in 2013. This statement came after a review meeting aimed at overseeing the preparations for the upcoming mega event.

Adityanath emphasized that work for the Maha Kumbh is progressing rapidly, with a target completion date set for December 15, 2024. "Prayagraj has to be made grand and beautiful with projects worth more than Rs 5,600 crore," he stated while unveiling the event's logo.

The Maha Kumbh is scheduled to take place in Prayagraj from January 14 to February 26, 2025. To facilitate the movement of devotees, over 7,000 shuttle and electric buses will be operational during the event. Additionally, drones will be deployed to ensure the safety and security of attendees.

Addressing concerns over the preparations, Adityanath mentioned the increased water levels in the Sangam area due to the monsoon, which has contributed to delays. He assured that improvements to the sewage system will be prioritized to prevent any discharge into the Ganga prior to the event.

During the meeting, an official from the Information Department announced the launch of a dedicated website and mobile application for the Maha Kumbh. Furthermore, Adityanath directed officials to expedite the completion of a steel bridge over the Ganga River in Phaphamau, aiming for its inauguration in the first week of December. This bridge will enhance accessibility for devotees traveling from Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.

In addition, the Chief Minister instructed the creation of a VVIP corridor from the airport to the fair area and encouraged the development of homestay options in Prayagraj to accommodate the influx of visitors.
