Uttarakhand Bypoll: BJP Fields Asha Nautiyal From Kedarnath, Cong Fields Manoj Rawat

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has field Asha Nautiyal From Kedarnath, whereas the Congress on Sunday named former MLA Manoj Rawat as its candidate.

Dehrun: Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) has field Asha Nautiyal From Kedarnath, whereas Congress on Sunday named former MLA Manoj Rawat as its candidate for November 20 Kedarnath assembly bypoll in Uttarakhand.

Nautiyal was elected from seat in 2002 and 2007 on a BJP ticket.

A former journalist, Manoj Rawat won from Kedarnath in 2017. He lost to BJP's Shaila Rani Rawat in 2022 polls.

Congress general secretary K C Venugopal said in a press release that party president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Rawat's candidature.

Rawat was first elected to assembly from Kedarnath in 2017. He lost seat in 2022 Uttarakhand polls.

last date for filing nomination papers for bypoll is October 29. papers will be scrutinised on October 30 and last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 4.

counting of votes for bypoll will be taken up on November 23.

According to officials, re are 90,540 eligible voters, including 45,775 women, in constituency and 173 polling stations will be set up.

Kedarnath bypoll is crucial for both Congress and BJP.

After winning all five seats in Uttarakhand in Lok Sabha polls, BJP lost Brinath and Manglaur assembly bypolls to Congress.
