Srinagar: Two minor boys were killed and two ors injured when ir car collided with a stationary truck and hit a ro divider on Srinagar-Baramulla highway. CCTV footage of accident has gone viral all over social media.
incident occurred on a highway at Tengpora, Srinagar when one of minor was driving an SUV. This has sparked calls from many political parties for strict actions against underage driving in Kashmir valley.

Hama and Aseem Sofi, both 17, lost ir lives in accident, leaving ir families completely devastated. One of or two injured is in critical condition.
Politicians, including Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah, expressed grief over fatalities, while accident reignited civil society's calls to curb underage driving.

"Our ro sense shows no sign of improving," CM Abdullah said on X.
"Heartbreaking visuals. This accident claimed precious young lives and has h a devastating impact on ir families. My heart goes out to families of boys killed in this tragic accident. May Allah grant m a place in Jannat," he ded.

"Our cars get quicker, our ros get better but our ro sense shows no sign of improving. Speed thrills but it kills with no remorse. Traffic rules are re for a reason, y keep us safe but only if we follow m." he ded.
Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari called for a complete ban on underage driving, expressing concern over rise in ro accidents, particularly those caused by reckless driving.

"It is heartbreaking to see photographs of young boys who lost ir lives in recent accidents in Lawaypora and Tengapora, leaving ir families, especially ir parents, devastated. Authorities must enforce strict measures to prevent reckless driving, stunts, and underage driving," he said on X.
"Strict action against traffic violators, a complete ban on underage driving, and a comprehensive awareness campaign are urgently needed," he said.
Muzaffar Shah, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) for Srinagar City, urged parents not to permit minors to access two-wheelers or four-wheelers.
"All four children in vehicle were studying at a particular school. issue is how did parents allow boys to have access to four-wheeler. H re been no access, this unfortunate accident would not have happened," he said.
He also said that parents should take prime responsibility, minors without a driving license should not be allowed access to two or four-wheelers.
" (CCTV) footage shows y were speeding. H re been no speeding, maybe evasive action by m could have given m a chance, and saved m," he said.
Police in Action
"We have been seizing vehicles driven by minors and counselling m. But re are over five lakh vehicles in city, so it is not possible to counsel or talk to or act against every ro user." Muzaffar Shah SSP (Traffic) said.
police have been continuously making efforts, including through social media, to appeal to parents not to give minors access to vehicles, Shah ded.
He also held schools accountable for allowing minors to arrive on two-wheelers or four-wheelers, stating, "It must be a cooperative effort from parents, schools, and traffic police. We need to work toger to stop this," Shah said.
“In past two to three days, we are specifically focusing on minors and excluding all or violations for now.” he ded.
"If parents are not enough, let us do it for m. We were expecting help from society and parents but y're not cooperating... se are our own kids, future of our society. Within parameters and resources available to us, we will try to curb it in shortest period of time," news agency PTI quoted Shah saying.
"Once a vehicle driven by a minor is seized, all laws applicable are included in a challan. Now we have intensified it more," he ded.
When asked about ro accident data in Valley involving minors, SSP said, "I don't have many details as of now, but... this year number of fatalities was fewer compared to previous years."
Netizens have raised concerns over accident, with many calling for action against parents who allow minors to drive on ros.
