Video Captures Moment Rainwater Gushed Inside Basement of Delhi IAS Coaching Centre

New Delhi: A day after three UPSC aspirants drowned at the flooded basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area following heavy rainfall, a video capturing the moments when the institute was flooded, has surfaced on social media.
The video was shared by a user on X (@Hirdesh79842767) who claimed to be one of the survivors of the flooding incident.

The user claimed the the police and NDMA were informed about the fllodng around 6.40pm but they arrived for assistance after 9pm on Saturday.
While sharing the video on X, he wrote, "I'm one of survivor of this horrible incident, within 10 min basement was filled it was 6.40 we called police and ndma's but they reach after 9 PM till then my 3 #UPSCaspirants mates lost their lives. 3 are hospitalized pray for them. who cares our life (sic)."

In the horrific video, students can be seen rushing towarsd stairs as rain water gushes inside the inststitute.
The video seemed to have been shot at the ground floor as several two-wheelers were seen parked nearby. The water was seen filling up the basement area, creating panic amd chaos.

The intensity of the waterflow was such that the poeple were helping each other by holding hands in reaching towards the stairs. The incident has left the survivors in shock.
For the unversed, three civil services aspirants drowned at Rau's IAS coaching centre basement - a popular coaching centre in Central Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar - after it got flooded with rain water. The tragic incident triggered mass outrage, prompting hundreds of students to come out to stage protest and seek justice.
According to sources, there are nine big halls in the institute here nine dfferent batches are run simultaneously.

Glaring Lapses Exposed
Republic Media Network spoke exclusiveky to students present at the protest site. The students claimed that there are major flaws in the building including no fire exit, poor ventilation system in the basement and only one spiral staircase.

The bodies were fished out from the water-filled basement of the coaching centre and sent for post-mortem. The police have also registered a case and initiated a probe.
2 Detained So Far
Meanwhile, two people have been detained in connection with the case.
Rau’s IAS study circle runs different courses for UPSC aspirants. It is learnt that the institute charges a whopping Rs 1,75,500- for GS foundation course. The courses that they offer include GS foundation course, Optional course, CSAT course and Mains test series.
Recently, another UPSC aspirant Nilesh Rai lost his life on July 23 after getting electrocuted in the nearby Patel Nagar area. He was electrocuted after coming in contact with a live wire.
