Bhavnagar: A doctor was allegedly assaulted by three individuals after he requested them to remove their footwear before entering the emergency room at a private hospital in Bhavnagar, Gujarat , police reported on Sunday.
The incident took place on September 12 at Shreya Hospital in Sihor town when the three accused arrived seeking treatment for a woman who had sustained a head injury, an official stated. Following the altercation, police arrested the trio on Saturday.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the trouble began when the doctor, Dr. Jaideepsinh Gohil (33), asked the men to remove their footwear before entering the emergency room. This request angered the accused, who began verbally abusing both the doctor and the nursing staff present at the scene. A video of the incident has also emerged and going viral on social media platforms.
The situation quickly escalated, and the men physically attacked Dr. Gohil, leaving him injured. During the altercation, the accused also damaged medical supplies and equipment in the emergency room, the FIR mentioned.
In addition to the assault, the men reportedly threatened to kill the doctor, according to the FIR.
The accused, identified as Hiren Dangar, Bhavdeep Dangar, and Kaushik Kuvadiya, have been arrested under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 115(2) (act with the intention of causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and other relevant provisions, the official confirmed.
