Noida: A government vehicle that entered a reserved lane for Kanwariyas and allegedly hit one of the pilgrims was overturned and vanadalised by an angry mob, according to police.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near Duhai rapid rail station in the Madhuban Bapu Dham police station area. The SUV, belonging to the hydel vigilance department and equipped with a siren, beacon light, and marked ‘Police,’ entered the restricted lane and hit a Kanwariya. In response, some Kanwariyas vandalized and overturned the vehicle in the middle of the road.

A video of the incident surfaced online. Upon getting information, police reached the spot and calmedd the situation.

The SUV driver, Avnish Tyagi, who has been detained, was reportedly on his way from Muradnagar to the Hydel Kavi Nagar office for his duty as a Hydel vigilance officer, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar.
