Beed ( Maharashtra ): A routine attempt to collect a food bill turned into a terrifying ordeal for a waiter in Maharashtra 's Beed district after he was dragged by a car for over a kilometre by three customers attempting to flee without paying. The incident, captured on CCTV, took place on Saturday at a roadside hotel along the Mehkar-Pandharpur Palkhi highway.

According to police, three men had dined at the hotel and, after finishing their meal, asked the waiter to bring a UPI QR code scanner for payment. When the waiter approached their car, an argument broke out, and one of the men, who was initially outside the vehicle, suddenly jumped into the car in an apparent attempt to escape without paying.

In a desperate attempt to stop them, the waiter opened the car door, but the vehicle reversed abruptly and sped away, dragging the waiter along with it. CCTV footage shows the waiter clinging to the door as the car sped off. Another hotel employee chased the car and even threw a brick in an attempt to stop them, but the car continued to flee with its door still open.

Men Abducted Waiter Overnight

The ordeal didn't end there. The three men reportedly held the waiter hostage for the entire night. After stopping the car at a secluded location, they allegedly beat the waiter, stole ₹11,500 from his pocket, and blindfolded him. He was kept in the car overnight and released the following morning.

The police has registered a case at the Dindrud police station and investigations are underway.
