Visuals Show Jhansi's Maharani Laxmibai Hospital Infants Ward Completely Gutted In Fire

At least 10 newly born were killed after a massive fire broke out at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh.

Jhansi: A massive fire erupted at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College and Hospital in Jhansi, Uttar Presh on Friday. According to reports, at least 10 newly born have been killed while many were rescued. Around 54 infants were present in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU Ward) of hospital when fire erupted. 

CM Yogi ityanath and Deputy Brajesh Pathak have expressed ir sorrow on incident and instructed officials for relief and rescue operation. Meanwhile, a video has surfaced showing Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU Ward) completely gutted in fire.

Speaking on incident, Sachin Mahor, Chief Medical Superintendent said, “re were 54 babies mitted in NICU ward. Suddenly a fire broke out inside Oxygen concentrator, efforts to douse fire were done but since room was highly oxygenated, fire spre quickly... many babies were rescued. 10 babies have died... injured babies are undergoing treatment”.

CM Yogi ityanath has taken cognisance of incident and directed district ministration to expedite relief work. In a post on X, CM Yogi also offered condolences to families of deceased infants.

Meanwhile, Congress leer and former Union Minister Preep Jain itya has said, "Many newborn babies died and many are fighting for ir lives... biggest issue is that children who sustained up to 40 per cent burn injuries, y could develop infections... biggest goal is to save those children..."
