"LG Polymers is an MNC of good reputation but re was an accident recently. An inquiry committee was constituted and ar one by Centre has also done its study. Based on se, we would ask manment and take ir version," a statement quoted CM having said during interaction.

"Orwise, industrialists would be scared (to invest) if we take harsh steps as being asked by many people," Reddy said.

YSRCP leer said his government has reached out to affected people and carried out an evacuation and hospitalisation programme. Within ten days of gas leak incident, state government paid a compensation of about Rs 1 crore to kin of deceased, statement said.

"We have also given affected people a good pack," Reddy said.

CM ted that government is taking feedback of locals to understand ir grievances which will be included in report to be prepared by inquiry committee.

He ded that state will bring a law on pollution control as part of ‘ease of doing business’ measures.

As many as 12 people were killed when styrene vapours leaked from LG Polymers plant on May 7, while several hundred fell ill after inhaling poisous chemical at R Venkatapuram near Visakhapatnam.

re has been an unequivocal demand from people of Venkatapuram and surrounding vills that plant be completely shutdown as y say it posed a threat to ir lives.
