Jagan's Andhra govt gives Rs 10,000 to each of 19,893 persons affected in Vizag gas leak
Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said that Rs 10,000 has been deposited into accounts of the people affected by the Vizag gas leak tragedy.

Andhra Presh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said that Rs 10,000 has been deposited into each account of people affected by Vizag gas leak which happened earlier this month. Nearly 19,893 people residing in affected vills have been compensated.
'We did our best to provide better compensation'
Interacting through a video conference with officials, CM Jagan assured affected people that based on panel reports, stringent action will be taken against those responsible for gas trdy irrespective of ir position.

"Within 10 days of mishap, all Styrene gas deposits of about 13,000 tonnes were shipped back to parent company and all victims' families were provided with compensation to support ir livelihood. Like never before by any government, we did our best to provide better compensation to families, which suffered due to trdy," Chief Minister said, according to an official statement.
Chief Minister said government is preparing to issue health cards to se families to provide better health facilities and monitor ir health for which vill health clinics are going to be established.

'We didn't want to repeat same mistake'
"Even earlier during Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) trdy, we demanded government to pay Rs 1 crore ex gratia to kin of deceased but all that was paid was only Rs 5 lakh. We didn't want to repeat same and thus paid Rs 1 crore as ex gratia. People who were put on ventilators received Rs 10 lakh, and those who were treated for more than two days were given Rs one lakh and those with mir injuries received Rs 25,000," said Chief Minister Reddy.

As many as 12 people were killed when Styrene vapours leaked from LG Polymers plant on May 7, while several hundred fell ill after inhaling poisous chemical at RR Venkatapuram near Visakhapatnam.
