Prime Minister Narendra Modi met various members of the film fraternity to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Saturday. Several Bollywood stars attended the event including Amir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Sonam Kapoor. The aim of the event was to invite the film industry to create films and shows that popularise Mahatma Gandhi. The Prime Minister also released a short film directed by Rajkumar Hirani at the event.
'I assure the PM that we will do even more'
At the event Actor Aamir Khan also spoke about Mahatma Gandhi and paid homage to his thoughts. He thanked the Prime Minister for initiating the cause.

He(Mahatma Gandhi) was very inspiring, very warm and very deep in what he had to say. I want to appreciate the PM for thinking about this effort. As creative people, there is much we can do, and I assure the PM that we will do even more,” Aamir Khan said.

PM Modi on Mahatama Gandhi's influence in the world
Highlighting Mahatma Gandhi's impact in the present, the PM said that if there is one thought, one person, who can establish a connect with people all over the world, it is Gandhiji.
The Prime Minister said the idea of making films on Mahatma Gandhi will spread his thoughts better among the young generation. "We don't want to make robots. We want to give birth to humans, and the simplest way to do so is with the entertainment world," he added.

A short film based on Gandhi's life, his teachings and his values featuring eight leading actors from the film industry was also shown during the interaction.
