Days ahead of the fifth International Yoga Day on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken to Twitter to spread awareness among the citizens on the importance of Yoga and various asanas in the exercise.

Sharing yet ar video of his animated version doing Vrikshasana on Friday, PM Modi wrote to Twitter, on importance of asana for development of our mind and body.
In 3D animation video, Prime Minister's animated version can be seen doing Vrikshasana or Tree Pose which is a balancing asana. Explaining benefits of asana to strengn leg muscles, curing vertigo, obesity and arthritis. video ends with sentence, " Yoga for global peace harmony and wellness."
In his Twitter post, PM Modi wrote: "How beneficial is Vrikshasana for our body and brain? Let's see in this video..."

June 21 has been designated as World Yoga Day following PM Modi's suggestion in his speech at UN General Assembly in 2014, months after he was first elected to office. Since n, t only India, but world celebrates Yoga Day with thousands participating in mass Yoga events across world.

On June 5, Prime Minister wrote, "On June 21, we will mark Yoga Day 2019. I urge you all to make yoga an integral part of your life and also inspire ors to do same. benefits of Yoga are tremendous."
In run-up to Yoga day last year, Prime Minister posted a video of his morning exercise and yoga on June 13, 2018 from his official residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. video on twitter was posted following his acceptance to Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli’s popular ‘Fitness Challenge’. fitness challenge was brainchild of n Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who on May 22 h initiated a social media campaign to encour Indians to exercise more. Rathore tagged a few celebrities, including Kohli, to take up his challenge, uplo a video as proof, and pay it forward by minating ors for task.
In 2015, India created two world records on International Yoga Day when PM Modi led participants at Rajpath in Delhi and recorded largest yoga class with 35,985 people.
