WATCH: President Kovind felicitates his former teachers at alma mater in Kanpur
President Ram Nath Kovind, on Monday, graced and addressed the alumni association conference and annual day function of his alma mater BNSD Inter college and Shiksha Niketan. During the inaugural ceremony, President Kovind felicitated his former teachers Pyare Lal (98), Hari Ram Kapoor (92) and TN Tandon (86).

During inaugural ceremony, President Kovind felicitated his former teachers Pyare Lal (98), Hari Ram Kapoor (92) and TN Tandon (86).
Taking to Twitter, President shared a video of heartfelt moment as he felicitated his former teachers on dais and interacted with m, saying that he was 'houred to visit his alma mater'.

During his younger days, President Kovind studied in both institutions - BNSD Inter college and Shiksha Niketan in Kanpur.
In a separate arrangement, President Kovind inaugurated centenary celebrations of DAV College on Monday. Addressing students at DAV College, President Kovind paid tributes to martyred CRPF jawan Shyam Babu from Kanpur Dehat along with or 39 personnel who died in Pulwama terror attack. He also paid tributes to social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati, who had played a leading role in cultural awakening of masses in 19th century.

Later, he spoke about changing face of techlogy and development in India and sharing a memoir from his school days.
"You have to face new challenges. We have to utilize new instruments of techlogy for development and move ahead. I still remember how difficult it was at that time (1960) to get admission in this college. For a poor student like me, it was t easy to pursue studies and stay in Kanpur. But, guidance and assistance of teachers and government scholarship helped me to move ahead in life," he said.
President Kovind also said that his far too had studied at same college and was a classmate of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
