In a bizarre incident, Uttar Pradesh police officers were caught on camera while they were mimicking gunshots during an encounter with the criminals in Sambhal district at midnight. In a video released by ANI on Saturday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the area was seen shouting words like “thain-thain (gunshot voices)”, maaro (kill) and “ghero (surround)”, while another officer was seen in plain clothes with gun in one hand was pretending to shoot the gun.
It was later stated that the UP policemen were struggling to fire at the goons because the cartridges of his revolver got stuck. As a result, they were mimicking the gun sounds to create a feeling of fear for the criminals.

This is not the first time Uttar Pradesh Police has made it to the headlines. On September 20 at Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, cops invited media to film the full encounter of two men Mustakim and Naushad who carried a bounty of Rs 25,000 each on their heads.
Aligarh SSP SSP Ajay Kumar Sahini told the daily that there was nothing wrong in calling media persons as they wanted to convey first-hand information to the police. He also emphasized the fact that there were orders “from the top” to share details of each and every encounter with the media, thereby adopting a more transparent approach.
