West Bengal Goverr Jagdeep Dhankhar refuted Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy's claim that CM Mamata Banerjee is protesting against new Citizenship Act as  he of TMC and t in capacity of CM. Goverr and CM have been locked in a tussle over contentious amended Citizenship Act. Dhankar to meet Banerjee late on Tuesday

In a series of tweets on Tuesday morning, Goverr Dhankhar also urged people to maintain peace, unity and brorhood in light of violent protest across Bengal against Act. "Citizenship (Amendment) Act has impact whatsoever on any citizen of India and ne has anything to worry regarding this act. It is a balm to those who have faced years of persecution outside, have or place to go except India. I appeal all to maintain peace, unity, brorhood," he wrote on Twitter. tweet also holds significance as it comes ahe of a key meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata today.

On Monday, Jagdeep Dhankar while speaking to Republic TV in an exclusive interview said that Citizenship (Amendment) Act is law of land. He expressed his anguish over Bengal government’s rejection of CAA and said that Mamata Banerjee should abide by Constitution. He also reiterated that bill was passed by Indian Parliament which consists of peoples' representatives thus all governments in nation should accept new law. Banerjee has said that she will t allow citizenship law and National Register of Citizen (NRC) to be implemented in West Bengal.
