After unveiling of statue of late film director K Balachander at production house of Makkal Needhi Maiam leer and actor Kamal Haasan which also saw fellow actor and political rival Rajnikanth in attendance, Haasan stated that, “We decided to respect each or deces back and we are still following it, we are fans of each or, we appreciate each or always.”

Haasan's acting career

Haasan has been in film industry for a very long time as he started his career as a child artist in 1960 in Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma. He won President’s Gold Medal for this movie as well. His breakthrough as a le actor came in 1975 drama Apoorva Raagangal, directed by K.Balachander. In this drama, he played a rebellious youth who falls in love with an older woman. He won his first National Film Award for his portrayal of a guileless schoolteacher who cares for a woman who suffers from retrogre amnesia in Moondram Pirai (1983).
