New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Odisha and parts of Maharashtra as heavy rainfall is forecasted in the coming days. This alert is part of a broader warning issued across multiple states, including Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and West Bengal, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.

Orange Alert in Several Parts of Odisha

The IMD has issued orange alert and predicting heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20 cm) in one or two places across Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, and Kendrapada districts till 26 Aug.

In Odisha, the IMD predicts intense rainfall over the next three days, attributed to a low-pressure area that is currently moving westward over Jharkhand. This system is likely to bring heavy downpours, prompting the IMD to caution residents in the affected areas to stay vigilant and prepare for possible disruptions.

Additionally, under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal, a new low-pressure area is anticipated to develop in the same region within the next 48 hours, according to the IMD's evening bulletin.

Mumbai Weather Update

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted significant rainfall for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and other regions across Maharashtra in this week. An orange alert has been issued, signaling heavy to very heavy rainfall in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts. This alert is expected to remain in effect for the next four to five days as the state braces for intense weather conditions.

In addition to the Konkan region, the IMD has also placed an orange alert for the Pune and Satara districts in western Maharashtra.

The IMD has further extended the orange alert for certain districts in the Konkan and western Maharashtra regions through August 26, indicating continued rainfall during this period.

Himachal Pradesh Weather Update

In Himachal Pradesh, light rainfall was recorded on Saturday, but the state continues to face significant challenges due to the ongoing monsoon season. Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, the state has reported 140 deaths related to rain incidents and has seen 73 roads blocked due to continuous downpours. The local meteorological office has issued warnings of heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning for isolated locations on Tuesday and Wednesday, further complicating the situation.

West Bengal Weather Update

Meanwhile, in West Bengal, the IMD has warned of very heavy rainfall in several South Bengal districts until August 26. The rainfall is expected due to a cyclonic circulation over the North Bay of Bengal. Districts such as South and North 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Bankura, Hooghly, Birbhum, and East and West Bardhaman are all on alert to experience heavy rainfall. Kolkata has already experienced sharp showers, leading to waterlogging in various areas, and fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea.

Delhi Weather Update

On Sunday morning, Delhi experiences a temperature of 34.23°C. The forecast for the day predicts temperatures ranging from a minimum of 27.05°C to a maximum of 35.61°C. Relative humidity is recorded at 48%, and the wind speed reaches 48 km/h.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi today is 62.0, which falls into the "moderate" category, indicating that air quality is acceptable but may pose a risk to some individuals, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
