North India and parts of central India are likely to experience heavy rainfall in the upcoming days, driven by depression that formed over bay of Bengal
New Delhi: North and parts of Central India are expected to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days due to a depression that has formed over the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for several districts in Western Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh , and Parts of Rajasthan with warnings of intense rainfall over the next 48 hours.
- Red Alert for Eight Districts in Central Madhya Pradesh
On Wednesday, the IMD issued a red alert for eight districts in central Madhya Pradesh for the next 24 hours. According to BS Yadav, a meteorologist from IMD Bhopal, “A well-marked low-pressure area has developed over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours, leading to heavy rainfall in the state."
Discussing the upcoming weather conditions, Yadav added, "A red alert has been issued for at least eight districts in central Madhya Pradesh , where rainfall is expected to exceed 204 mm. An orange alert has been issued for neighboring districts, where rainfall is expected to be between 115 mm and 204 mm. A yellow alert has been placed for the remaining districts."
- Mathura, Agra Under Red Alert
Mathura and Agra are under a red alert, while an orange alert has been issued for numerous other districts on September 12.
- Heavy Rains in Delhi NCR
On Thursday morning, heavy rains hit several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region, with the IMD predicting further rainfall throughout the day.
- Red Alert for Eastern Rajasthan
Additionally, the IMD has issued a red alert for Eastern Rajasthan , where heavy showers are also expected.
- Heavy Rainfall Predicted in Dehradun, Red Alert Issued
Heavy Rainfall is also predicted in Dehradun on September 12 and 13, for which the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert. District Magistrate directed to keep schools till class 12th to be closed.
