West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has hit out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for calling him a 'mouthpiece' of the BJP. The Governor said that no one called him a 'mouthpiece' when he praised Mamata Banerjee for handling the situation in Bengal when Cyclone 'Bulbul' hit.

'Nobody called me Mouthpiece when I praised Mamata Banerjee'

"No one becomes anyone mouthpiece after showing concern towards poor education, health system, and roads. When I praised Mamata for her commendable work for Cyclone Bulbul preparedness, nobody called me the Chief Minister's mouthpiece," Dhankar said. He also said that some people are using 'tounges loosely' and that will not stop him from serving the people of the state. "No need to play every ball in the game of cricket. "Some people are using their tongue too often and very loosely. There is no need to play every ball in the game of cricket. I would continue to serve the people of the State," he said.

'There are some people who are behaving just like BJP mouthpiece'

The Governor's remarks come after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a jibe at Governor Dhankar and said, "I don't comment about constitutional posts. However, there are some people who are behaving just like a BJP mouthpiece. You have seen what is going on in my State. They are trying to run a parallel administration," she said.

According to sources, the two leaders are at loggerheads over the allocation of relief funds after Cyclone Bulbul hit the State. The Governor was also refused permission for a chopper to travel to Farakka in Murshidabad district, making it the second such instance in one week. Dhankhar visited Farakka on Friday morning to attend a programme. The request for the chopper was made well in advance but there was no response from the administration, a Raj Bhavan source said. However, the TMC said that the demand was a 'misuse of public money'.
