West Bengal Guv on CAA: 'CM Banerjee took an oath & is fully bound by law of land'

The Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday addressed a press conference over the CAA 2019 & reiterates the ACt doesn't affect Indian citizens.

Goverr of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday dressed a press conference over Citizenship Amendment Act. Dhankar said that he urged chief secretary of state to single out miscreants that are against public interest. He also mentioned that CAA would t affect interest of any Indian citizen. Dhankar said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is fully bound by law of land and need to follow Centre's decision.

Speaking to media, Guv Dhankar said, " chief secretary of state and DG police both came to meet me. y gave me a brief about situation of state. We discussed what steps are going to be taken furr and I also gave m my point of view. I expressed concerns I h and also urged m that it is time to single out miscreants that are against public interest."

" CAA was passed in both houses, everyone has ample opportunity to keep ir view. We all as Indians are bound by law. right way is t to eng in vandalism or show muscle power. law must be respected. An elected government is fully bound by law of land. CM took an oath to act according to Constitution, and this law is part of Constitution," he ded.

Furr speaking about violence in Malda and Murshidab, he said, "I've been pained about situation particularly in Malda and Murshidab where re is a deep sense of fear. I've indicated to senior-most bureaucrat and DGP that I'd like to visit affected areas."

Mamata ends three-days protest

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday ended her three-day ' CAB, NRC' protest march against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Registration of Citizens (NRC). On last day of her protest march, Mamata Banerjee walked through iconic Howrah Bridge.

During her dress to huge crowd that h gared at ' CAB NRC' rally, West Bengal Chief Minister stated that she won't let BJP do its Communal Politics in West Bengal and also slammed Home Minister Amit Shah for 'enlightening fires'. She said, "Dear Home Minister, your work is to stop fires t enlighten it. When parts of country are burning, why are you saying it'll happen..? you said Ahaar won't work.. n why spend Rs. 6,000 crores making it? I am asking as a citizen... I have right to question."

About Citizenship Amendment Act

Act seeks to provide citizenship to mirity communities namely Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Banglesh and Pakistan. This will be applicable to members of se communities having arrived in India on or before December 31, 2014. Moreover, y will t be considered as illegal migrants.
