West Bengal: Woman Allegedly Molested In Moving Bus In Kolkata

Kolkata: Amidst the ongoing protests in Kolkata over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar College and Hospital, a woman was allegedly molested by a fellow passenger inside a moving bus in the Kasba area in West Bengal’s capital city on Tuesday morning. The Kolkata police confirmed the incident saying that a case was registered and the accused was arrested.

According to the police, the incident took place around 9.30 am on Tuesday, when the woman, in her mid-20s, started screaming following which the passengers caught hold of the accused and beat him up. The accused managed to deboard the bus and tried to flee, but people nearby stopped him and took him to the Kasba Police Station, an officer said.

"The woman lodged a complaint at the police station and he was subsequently arrested," he said.

The woman was travelling from Kasba to Phoolbagan to her workplace, the officer added.

Further legal action into the matter is underway.
