Legendary singer Usha Uthup’s recent interaction with Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud, at an event has gone viral. Uthup, known for her pop singing, left the CJI all smiles. In a lighthearted conversation, the singer reportedly asked the CJI, "What are you doing at an event? Why aren’t you in court? When are you announcing your decision on the Kolkata case?" The CJI, accompanied by his wife Kalpana Das, took the question in good spirits.

Justice Chandrachud is currently presiding over the Supreme Court Bench hearing the RG Kar case. Attendees of the event confirmed that the CJI was a "real sport" throughout the evening.

At the same event, CJI Chandrachud and Usha Uthup were seen joining together for an impromptu rendition of "Summer Wine," with videos showing the CJI taking a keen interest as other guests looked on.

Usha Uthup recently released a video song in solidarity with the movement against the rape and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata. The 5-minute-long song, Jaago Re, is a rendition of Jaago Mohan Pyaare and addresses social evils like crimes against women. In the video, the 76-year-old Padma Bhushan awardee and other women hold placards demanding justice for the RG Kar victim.
