New Delhi: A Frankfurt-bound Vistara flight from Mumbai was diverted and made an emergency landing in Turkey's Erzurum airport on Friday.

Republic TV sources have confirmed that the landing took place after a bomb threat was received. Following the intimation, an emergency landing took place. Security officials with bomb defusal teams reached the airport and all the passengers were de-boarded.

A passenger found a tissue paper in the Lavatory of the Mumbai-Frankfurt flight with a message "Bomb on Airplane" after which the passenger informed the cabin crew and subsequently the captain of the plane was informed.

After the bomb threat, the pilot made an emergency landing in Turkey. So far nothing suspicious has been found in the flight.

Speaking on Vistara flight's precautionary landing, Turkey's interior minister Ali Yerlikaya said, “Today, a piece of paper saying ‘there is a bomb on the plane’ was found in the toilet of the passenger plane VTI027 belonging to Vistara Airlines, which was flying from Mumbai to Frankfurt, and upon this notification, the plane made an emergency landing at our Erzurum Airport at around 16:30.”

“234 passengers and 13 crew members disembarked the aircraft without any problems. Search operations inside the aircraft continue with two bomb disposal experts and one search dog. Necessary measures were taken at the airport by AFAD, Fire, Health, Security, UMKE and DHMI Teams. Due to emergencies, landings and takeoffs are not allowed at Erzurum Airport until 21:00.”
