When Work From Home Was Illegal In India Until Recently: Sanjeev Sanyal Shares Interesting Story

New Delhi: Sanjeev Sanyal, member of Ecomic visory Council to Prime Minister of India, shared an information which was unkwn to masses that till 2020, working from home was technically illegal. Speaking at Republic TV's India Ecomic Summit 2024, Sanjeev Sanyal explained how y got rid of this law following a proper research.

dressing summit, Sanjeev Sanyal said that re were some specific rules called – ‘Or Service Providers’ – which said that if one uses any or telecom service to work from a certain location, n y will have to take a permission from specific ministry and also h to keep an EPABX machine rey and inform in detail how you would exactly use telecom system. se were outdated laws but y were re.

Sharing story furr, Sanjeev Sanyal said that lockdown was anunced in March 2020, telecom ministry comes up with a tification saying OSP requirements would be held in an abeyance till December 2020 to allow people to work from home. 

w when I look at this tification, what it tells you that during rmal times, those outdated laws were required, Sanjeev Sanyal said.

“So we dig deepen into matter, did our research and with efforts, finally got rid of this law and if finally helped a lot of companies,” he said.
