WHO welcomes India's role in global health, Tedros lauds PM Modi's vaccine commitment

In a tweet, he said, " pandemic is an unprecedented challenge for world, and we agreed to work shoulder to shoulder to end it." Tedros said he h a "very productive" telephone call with PM Modi during which both of m talked about ways to "strengn our collaboration and vance access to kwledge, research and training in tritional medicine globally".

PM, WHO D-G discuss global collaboration against COVID-19
PM Modi h a telephone conversation with World Health Organisation (WHO) DG and he expressed his appreciation for WHO's important role in facilitating a coordinated global response to pandemic, a Prime Minister's Office (PMO) statement said. During call, PM Modi ted need to t lose sight of battle against or diseases and appreciated importance of WHO's support to health systems of developing countries.
WHO Director-General stressed close and regular collaboration between WHO and Indian health authorities, and especially appreciated country's domestic initiatives like Ayushman Bharat scheme and campaign against tuberculosis, PMO said.

PM Modi and WHO Director-General also h a productive discussion on value of tritional medicinal systems, especially for enhancing wellness and immunity of global population, statement said. y agreed on need for integrating tritional medicine solutions into modern medical practice through holistic protocols, and for careful scientific validation of time-tested tritional medicine products and practices, it ded.
WHO chief stressed that potential of tritional medicine h t been equately appreciated until w, and said that WHO was actively working to encour research, training, and sharing of best practices in this area. PM Modi appreciated se efforts, and informed WHO Director-General about planned celebration of Ayurveda Day in India on vember 13 under me of 'Ayurveda for COVID-19'.
