RG Kar Hospital Ex-Principal Interrogated for Five Consecutive Days
The former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh is being summoned by the CBI for the last four days and today also, the ex-principal is being questioned in the CBI office in Kolkata.
Sandip Ghosh, who had resigned a day after a trainee doctor at his hospital was raped and murdered on campus, was reinstated within 24 hours and ever since, he has been on the CBI's list.
‘Why Did You Declare Abhaya’s Rape-Murder as Suicide?'
The several questions asked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to Sandip Ghosh include -
'Why did you declare Abhaya's rape and murder as suicide?' - As per Abhaya's mother, the call she received from the authorities said that her daughter had died by suicide while in reality, she was brutally raped and murdered.
‘You yourself are a doctor, did you not think that it is important to keep the crime scene safe? Then why was the renovation done there and who answered when asked?’ - This comes amid the vandalism that occurred on the night of August 14 during the peaceful midnight protests at RG Kar Hospital. The rioters had destroyed the ‘crime scene’, i.e. the seminar room and following that, the room was ‘renovated’.
‘Who gave the information to the family on request and why was it given without facts?’ - The victim's parents have alleged foulplay and her father has also gone on to say that according to him, the entire department is a suspect. The family was given delayed and incorrect information by the hospital authorities.
‘You must be well aware that tampering with evidence at a crime scene is a crime, yet why did you not keep it safe until the investigation is completed?’ - This question again pertains to the vandalism done at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 14, during the midnight protest; hinting at the possibility that the mob attack was a deliberate and planned attack.
