28-Year-Old Man Mauled To Death by Wild Sloth Bear in Chhattisgarh, 2 Others Critically Injured

A wild sloth bear has mauled a 28-year-old man to death in Chhattisgarh; two others who tried to face the animal, have been critically injured.

Gaurela: A 28-year-old man was killed and two ors were seriously injured after y were attacked by a wild sloth bear in Chhattisgarh's Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district on Sunday, police said.

incident took place this morning near Badraudi vill when deceased Chhablal along with Ghasiram (45) and Santlal (42) went to collect wood to celebrate a local festival, said Marwahi division forest officer (DFO) Raunak Goyal.

"After coming face to face with bear, three tried to confront it. Chhablal was mauled to death, while Ghasiram and Santlal sustained critical injuries. injured persons were shifted to community health centre in Marwahi and n to Bilaspur for advanced treatment," Goyal said.

kin of deceased will be given compensation as per state government rules, officials said.
