Jalandhar: An 18-year-old woman was dragged for approximately 200 meters as she attempted to resist three motorcycle-borne snatchers who had stolen her mobile phone in Punjab ’s Jalandhar, police said on Sunday.

The victim identified as Lakshmi suffered injuries in the incident that took place on Friday in the Green Model Town area of Jalandhar. 

According to police, the woman was near her house when three unidentified men came on a motorcycle and tried to snatch her mobile phone. When she resisted, she was dragged behind the motorcycle for about 150 to 200 metres.

The snatchers managed to take the mobile phone away, added police.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area.

A police official said a case has been registered, and that efforts are on to nab the accused. 

Earlier in July, Mohali Police arrested an Agniveer and two others in connection with a vehicle snatching case. The suspects were identified as Agniveer Ishmeet Singh, also known as Ishu, his brother Prabhpreet Singh, known as Prabh, and Balkaran Singh, all between the ages of 18 and 22. The police recovered from their possession one stolen car, a motorcycle, a scooter, a country-made pistol with two live cartridges, and two stolen mobile phones.
