Woman Molested, Disrobed While Sleeping Beside Ailing Son at Kolkata Hospital; Accused Arrested

Kolkata: Amid massive outrage over Kolkata doctor's rape and murder, another disturbing incident has come to light in Kolkata. According to media reports, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a health worker at a government hospital in Kolkata where her child was undergoing treatment.

Reports suggested that she was subjected to sexual assault while she was sleeping beside her ailing son. As per the woman’s complaint, the incident took place at the children's ward of the hospital.

It is learnt that one, Tanay Pal (26) a former ward boy at the hospital, allegedly entered the ward and inappropriately touched and disrobed the woman while she was asleep.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police has filed an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the accused. Pal's mobile phone, which was sent for forensic examination, was also seized. He was later produced before a local court and sent to police custody.

The incident comes over a month after a trainee doctor was brutally raped and murder at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital while she was on night duty. Subsequently, a civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, was arrested the following day in connection with that crime.
