Bengaluru: A 28-year-old dance instructor was allegedly found dead at her flat in Bengaluru, hours after she claimed 'threat to life.' Meanwhile, police have detained her husband, Kiran, suspecting his involvement in connection with her death.

The victim has been identified as Navyashree, who hailed from Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district. Police believe that she was reportedly killed by her husband after an escalated domestic dispute. Navyashree had been married to Kiran for three years and was living with him in SMV Layout.

The matter came to light after the victim's friend Aishwarya lodged a police complaint, saying her friend had been strangled. The victim and Aishwarya reportedly stayed at the former's flat the night before her mysterious death.

According to sources, the victim had August 27 confided in her friend Aishwarya, expressing distress over ongoing personal and marital issues.

Following which,  her friend arrived at Navyashree's home at around 4.30pm and learned that her friend was feeling increasingly unsafe.

Later Navyashree called her another friend, Anil, expressing fear for her safety. The three met later that evening and Anil suggested that the victim file a complaint against her husband, hoping that police intervention might help resolve the issues between them.

After dropping Anil off, the two friend returned to the former's flat at around 11.30 pm and went to bed.

Aishwarya, who had consumed liquor, woke up the next morning and found Navyashree lying lifeless. She immediately alerted the neighbours and contacted the police control room.

The police suspect that Navyashree's husband has had suspicions about his wife and he might have killed her. They suspect the accused may have used a spare key to access the flat. As per media reports, the victim was tied to a chair, tortured, and then killed.

Meanwhile, the Kengeri Police has registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). More details are awaited.
