Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) leader Anand Mithabail has stoked a controversy with his recent comments on the Ram Mandir issue. Mithabail made this comment while addressing a convention at Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. Earlier last month, an SDPI leader had dared to bring 25 lakh people in Uttar Pradesh to push the demand to reconstruct Ram Mandir.

“If you continue with the demand of constructing a Ram Mandir then forget placing the idol of Lord Ram, we will not allow you to even place a 4-inch brick in that place. Your already showing the blueprint of Ram Mandir, we will not allow you to place even a brick or construct the Ram Mandir at any cost. We're ready to sacrifice our lives and build a Masjid. We're reminding you that we're prepared to face the war”. -Anand Mithabail, Leader, SDPI

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and RSS have been exerting pressure on the government to take the ordinance route to construct Ram Mandir. Political parties are meanwhile divided on the issue while some said that people must follow the Supreme Court directions some political parties have agreed to the demand of constructing a Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

The Bajrang Dal has taken offense to SDPI’s stand on the issue, “We will not allow Babri Masjid to be constructed anywhere in India let alone in Ayodhya. Muslims across the country are supportive of the cause of constructing a Ram Mandir. Babar is a plunderer, he had invaded India to loot its wealth. Some outfits like SDPI are opposing it but they don’t matter to the people. We will build Ram Mandir”. - Sharan Pumpwell, Leader, Bajrang Dal

Recently, Pejawar Seer had called for the resignation of BJP MP’s if the government fails to construct the temple before the end of their tenure. Political analysts say that the Ram Mandir issue has been stirred up just before the Lok Sabha polls only to gain leverage. The Supreme Court on October 29th, 2018 ignored the Uttar Pradesh government’s request to early hearing and adjourned the hearing for the Ayodhya title suit case to January.
