World record! Odisha's artist Sudarsan Pattanik crafts world's biggest Santa Claus with a twist

The masterpiece, spanning 100 feet in length, 20 feet in height, and 40 feet in width, carries a profound message: 'Gift A Plant, Green The Earth.'

Puri: Today, December 25, is Christmas! From bells, chocolates, dance to red chubby Santa Claus bringing us gifts, we enjoy it all. But a unique Santa Claus made with onions has caught our attention.

Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has once again mesmerised India with his creativity, crafting a colossal sand sculpture of Santa Claus adorned with onions at Puri's Blue Flag beach.

The masterpiece, spanning 100 feet in length, 20 feet in height, and 40 feet in width, carries a profound message: 'Gift A Plant, Green The Earth.'

Speaking to news agency ANI, Pattnaik said that two tonnes of onions were used to make this giant sculpture.

"Every year, during Christmas, we try to create some different sculptures at Puri's Blue Flag beach. This time we have created the world's biggest onion and sand installation Santa Claus which is 100 feet long 20 feet high and 40 feet wide We have used two tonnes of onions. We tried to give a message: 'Gift A Plant, Green The Earth," he said.

India's famous Odisha-based sand artist also emphasised the importance of keeping a brief check on climate change and planting more trees.

"We all know the impact of Climate change, so it is the message for all of us. it is the need of the hour to plant more trees. It took 8 hours to complete sculptures. When the world celebrates Christmas, it will see India has the biggest sand and onion sculpture."

This comes as India on Sunday, December 24, offered mid-night prayers celebrating Christmas.

From New Delhi to Tamil Nadu, hundreds of devotees were seen attending midnight mass prayers.
