New Delhi: A man was left disappointed after his jackpot worth over Rs 3 lakh was cancelled calling it a "bug."
This incident happened with Aviral Sangal who played the Friday jackpot of a Fintech company CRED where he won a lottery won of MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max and a TUMI bag worth Rs 3.25 lakh.
However, Aviral's happiness was short-lived after the company claimed a "technical glitch" and cancelled the win.
Sharing his experience, Aviral in a post on X said tagging founder of the Bengaluru-based company Kunal Shah said, "Even though I usually do not fall for the @CRED_club jackpots, yesterday I just played the Friday jackpot without having any hope of getting anything meaningful. But I scored the JACKPOT and it wasn't a small one."
Recalling filing out the necessary forms and providing his PAN details for the TDS payment, he added that the CRED team "had to cancel the jackpot because of some technical issue."
And the team said they would credit back the coins and a cashback of Rs 1,000 as a "goodwill gesture."
Things got a little ugly when Aviral stated that the company called him again to give the same offer.
"Another call from CRED this more in depth. Due to a “Bug” there were 200 users who won the Jackpot. They decided to cancel the Jackpot instead of pausing, fixing the bug and honoring the 200 odd users who already won."
"I have asked the lady that CRED needs to publicly acknowledge the incident publicly and to honour the Jackpot for all 200 users as the decision taken by CRED is only fair to the organisation and not to its users. I have made my stand clear that CRED needs to honour the reward or else I do have my legal options available to me. I will keep you posted," he added.
'It'll be Fun to See the Judgement': How Netizens React
Questioning CRED's credibility, a user said, "CRED's credibility is now questionable. So freely they are trying to bluff. If they are in the process of going for IPO, this issue should be addressed sincerely else fingers will be pointed towards the company. This is nothing less than digital cheating."
"Most shameless . Corporate robbers," another said.
"Sue them..don't even think to backout now. Send a registered legal notice, which should include claiming your reward, your legal cost, and a compensation for attempting to cheat. Drag this SHAMELESS @kunalb11 into the Court of Law. Shame on you Kunal Shah @kunalb11," a third user said.
Encouraging Aviral to take legal actions, one user said, “File a case please, it’ll be fun to see the judgement of court.”
