"After becoming Leader of Opposition, Siddaramaiah is talking loose. He spoke about Veer Savarkar. He does not know ABCD about him. He will get to know about him something if he goes to Andaman. There he will get knowledge about what he (Savarkar) had experienced in jail," Yediyurappa said in Hubli as quoted by a news agency.
'People will teach him a lesson'
The Karnataka Chief Minister then went on to say that Siddaramaiah should hold his tongue, or people will teach him a lesson. "Secondly, for a person who had been the Chief Minister, speaking lightly and in singularly about the Speaker does not show him in good light. He should apologize to the people of the state," he said referring to Siddaramaiah's remark that allowing him to speak was “not alms given by the Speaker”.

Siddaramaiah's remarks on Veer Savarkar
On October 18, Siddaramaiah slammed BJP's plan to bestow Bharat Ratna on Veer Savarkar posthumously. Calling Savarkar a 'murderer', he added that he was one of the accused in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Since the charges against him could not be proved due to lack of evidence, he was set free. "The murderer of Mahatma Gandhi is getting Bharat Ratna! Those who conspired to eliminate Gandhiji are getting Bharat Ratna! Should BJP be allowed to gain a foothold in Mangaluru, known as a land of intellectuals," the Congress leader had said.
