Mumbai: The Mumbai Police arrested a 24-year-old woman for allegedly sending a death threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , demanding his resignation. The death threat was issued via a message from an unknown number on the WhatsApp helpline number of the Mumbai Traffic Police control room on Saturday.

In the message, the sender has threatened to kill CM Yogi Adityanath if he didn't tender his resignation within 10 days, warning him of meeting slain NCP leader Baba Siddique-like fate. So far, four people have been given notice by Mumbai Police in threat message case.

Thane Woman Held

The arrested woman has been identified as Fatima Khan, a degree holder in BSc (Information Technology).

According to sources, Fatima is a resident of Ulhasnagar area of Thane district of Maharashtra with her family members. Her father is into timber business, news agency PTI citing an official reported. The woman is well qualified but is mentally unstable, police said.

The Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in a combined operation with the Ulhasnagar police traced the woman and apprehended her, the official said.

Threat Ahead of Adityanath's Maharashtra Visit

The police are on alert as Adityanath is likely to come to Maharashtra for campaigning for the November 20 state assembly polls, as per officials.

The incident has prompted the Mumbai Police to be on its toes as a high alert has been sounded. The Mumbai Police has launched an investigation to ab the accused. More details are awaited.

According to sources, a WhatsApp helpline number of the Mumbai Traffic Police control room received a message from an unknown number last evening. The message read that "if Yogi Adityanath did not resign in 10 days, we will kill him like Baba Siddique".

The latest threat message comes amid a series of death threats received by cops in Mumbai over the past several weeks. Most of these targeted Bollywood actor Salman Khan and threatened that the actor would be killed unless he paid Rs 2-crore ransom. Against the backdrop of the firing outside the actor's residence earlier this year, the cops nabbed the senders of these messages and took them into custody. The nabbed individuals include a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur and a tattoo artist from Noida. Mumbai Police have taken them into transit remand and were questioning them.

Baba Siddique Murder Case

A former Maharashtra minister and senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar , was murdered after being shot by three individuals in Bandra East, Mumbai, on October 12 evening.

The 66-year-old political leader was shot in the chest after which he was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The leader had received a death threat just 15 days ago and was provided a ‘Y’ category security. Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility for the attack via a Facebook post. The post had alleged that he was killed due to his close ties to Salman Khan and alleged links to underworld figures like Dawood Ibrahim.
