Yogi Adityanath praises democracy after marathon 36-hour session

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the concept of democracy and said that the historic 36-hour session should be helpful for future generations

A marathon and historic legislative assembly session of Uttar Pradesh government concluded on Thursday night. session, which was in order to pay respects to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th anniversary began at 11 am on October 2 and went on till Thursday, October 3 midnight. session was majorly attended by members of ruling party and was boycotted by opposition, who deemed it unnecessary and said that it was being conducted for 'history'.

'Ideals of Far of Nation'

Both houses passed a resolution asking state government to take effective steps to achieve sustainable development goals set up by United Nations while adhering to ideals of Far of Nation. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who spoke at length, while addressing house made a number of points. UP Chief Minister praised concept of parliamentary session and said that in a democracy, dialogue is a symbol of coordination and peace.

"That is why democracy was accepted as best method of governance within world. To realize power of democracy, we all participate in this type of discussion and become part of it."

Adityanath also said that he hoped that this discussion would be helpful as a document for future generations. Looking ahead at targets that have been set for year 2022, 2024, and 2030, CM highlighted that concrete action plans have to be made to achieve those physical and financial goals.

'Reflects faith in democracy'

Continuing his reflections on great democratic exercise, Adityanath said that " discussion of two houses overnight shows faith of all of us towards democracy. In a time when people's representatives are going through a crisis of trust, in such a situation, this kind of experiment is a meaningful initiative in direction of mass problem and its solution. He mentioned number of hours lawmakers had worked for, saying that 149 members of Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council put forth ir views.

He later also thanked m all, saying, "It is indeed a wonderful event of democracy. Heartfelt gratitude to all of members for this".
