The Youth Congress (IYC) in Karnataka staged a protest in Bengaluru's Maurya Circle on Wednesday. The protests were called against the Central Government and State Government over the serious flood situation that affected Karnataka. In addition, other reasons to protest also include the growth rates in unemployment, delay in the release of funds to flood-affected areas, economic slowdown, and misuse of Income Tax (IT) Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao on IYC protests
Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the protests have been carried out to criticise the government for the several events organised by them. Here's Rao's statement:
"Government is organising big events but what is the benefit of all those events. How is the country benefiting except for one person's megalomania? How is it affecting and helping anybody? That is the reason why Youth Congress is organising this massive protest."
Karnataka Congress Twitter handle posted the pictures from the protest and stated, "Youth Congress hold massive protest against the policies of the Central and State BJP governments. President of KPCC, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Vice-President Eshwar Khandre, leaders and millennial activists, including the national president of the Youth Congress, Srinivas, are present.
In addition, Rao also said that IYC Karnataka is also protesting as the government is ignoring real issues. Apart from this, Rao slammed the BJP Government and said that it is rewriting history to serve its own ideology.
"Youth Congress is protesting for the future of the country. The government should solve people's problem and should not divert from real issues. They cannot rewrite the history to suit their own ideology and divide society," he added.
Karnataka Floods
The Senior leaders of Karnataka Congress and other party workers are scheduled to lay siege to Raj Bhavan as a part of the protests. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and floods have dealt heavy damage to Karnataka. Due to heavy rainfall, a house in Hosuru village of Gadag collapsed in the region. However, no injury or loss of life has been reported. In addition, the roads were damaged in Palar area near Male Mahadeshwara Hills on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border.
