Yummo Ice Creams Issues Statement After Mumbai Doctor Claims to Find Human Finger in Ice Cream Cone

New Delhi: Responding to allegations from a Mumbai-based doctor regarding a human finger found in Yummo ice cream which he ordered online, ice cream company has clarified that it has stopped manufacturing at third-party facility. Moreover, y have taken immediate steps to isolate affected item both at facility and in ir warehouses, and are currently undertaking similar measures at market level. While speaking to a leading daily, company's spokesperson maintained that it will cooperate with authorities in probing matter.

Yummo Ice Creams Issues Clarification

 "We have stopped manufacturing at third-party facility and have taken immediate steps to isolate affected item both at facility and in our warehouses. Efforts are currently underway to remove product from market. Ensuring product quality and safety remain our utmost priority, we were already in process of addressing situation internally. Concurrently, matter has been escalated, and a formal police complaint has been filed by customer", Yummo Ice Creams reportedly said. 

What Mumbai Resident Had Claimed? 

For unversed, a Mumbai-based man had claimed to find a piece of flesh, apparently a severed human thumb, in ice cream that he ordered online. incident occurred on Wednesday afteron, following which man lodged a complaint with police. complainant, Brendon Ferrao (26), is a doctor with an MBBS degree and is a resident of Malad area in metropolis. "In his complaint, he said that he ordered a butterscotch ice cream cone from Yummo company through an e-Commerce app. While consuming ice cream after lunch, he found a piece of flesh with a nail in it," a police official said.

But since re was proper response from firm, complainant put piece of flesh in an ice bag and approached went to Malad police station, where he lodged a complaint, official said.

Based on his complaint, police registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 272 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale), 273 (sale of xious food and drink) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of ors), against Yummo ice cream company officials, he said.

‘Initially Thought it to be a Nut, But…’

Speaking to media persons about incident, complainant Ferrao said that while eating ice cream, he found a big piece in his mouth and initially thought it to be a nut. But as he suspected that something was wrong, he took out piece from his mouth and was appalled to find a piece of flesh, he said.

He said that since he is a doctor, he kws human body parts well and figured out that piece of flesh that he found was of a thumb. "After finding piece of flesh in ice cream, I was almost trembling. It left me traumatised," he said.
