Yusuf Pathan serves food to flood-affected victims in Vadodara, netizens heap praises on cricketer

Former Indian cricketers Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan have been helping the victims affected by the dangerous floods in Vadodara and they have earned the hearts of millions of people across the country by doing so.

On July 31, Vadodara received heavy rainfall and recorded a historic 554 mm of rain in just 12 hours - this coming amid the state actually facing paucity of rains. Following which Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani undertook a review meeting at the State Emergency Operations Center in Gandhinagar. As reported by Skymet, 29 trains have been canceled in Vadodara as the Army is currently helping to evacuate stranded people.

Visuals emerged of cricketer Yusuf Pathan serving food for the victims while sources said that his brother Irfan Pathan is helping the victims with accommodation. Both the Pathan brothers belong to Vadodara.

Update on the rains in Vadodara

Rains have paused in Gujarat's Vadodara on Friday, causing water to recede from areas. Flash floods in the district have left 5 people dead yet. NDRF teams have been deployed on the ground to help rescue survivors from rain lashed parts of the district.

The  Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert for Vadodara for the Friday and Saturday.

The officials at the IMD said:

"Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Patan and Mehsana. Heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Navsari, Valsad, and in Daman Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Gir Somnath, Amreli and Bhavnagar."
