Aadhaar Update Deadline Extended: Last Date Announced, No Charges Until December

The UIDAI has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates to December 14, 2024.

The UIDAI has extended the deadline for free services in the Aadhaar update till December 14, 2024, compared to earlier September 14, 2024. This gives more days in hand for those who are looking to update either identity, mobile number, or address in 12-digit biometric. If the deadline is missed, from December 15, there will be charges on updating Aadhaar.

As per the UIDAI website, the upload of documents in support of identity and address is free till December 14, 2024. Updating these demographic details online is overall free. Earlier, the deadline was on September 14, 2024, and is now extended for another 3 months.

Documents Required to Update your Aadhaar Card : 

Under the free services, citizens can submit ration cards, Voter identity cards, Government-issued identity cards/ certificate having address, and Indian Passports serve as proof of both identity and address. Also, details like PAN card, Driving license, Secondary or Senior School mark sheet/ School leaving certificate having a photograph, and Government-issued identity card/ certificate - which serve as the only proof of identity can be submitted. Additionally, Electricity/water/gas bills (last 3 months), Bank / Post Office passbook, rent/ lease/ leave & license agreement, serving as proof of address only, are some of the other key information that can be updated.

How to update your Aadhaar Card : 

1. To start off, navigate to the official website of Aadhaar at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/. Once there, log in by entering your registered mobile number and the one-time password (OTP) that you will receive promptly.

2. Once logged in, carefully review the identity and address information presented in your profile.

3. In case you spot any discrepancies in the details shown on your profile. (Should you find the details are accurate, remember to select the 'I verify that the above details are correct' tab.)

4. From the drop-down menu provided, select the specific identity document you intend to submit for verification purposes.
