History of Hindi Diwas 2024: 

In 1953, Hindi Diwas was celebrated for the first time on September 14. The aim was to promote the importance and spread of the Hindi language. The Official Language Commission proposed the idea of observing this day to promote Hindi on a national level.

On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India accepted Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, as the official language of India. Since 1953, September 14 has been observed annually as Hindi Diwas.

Hindi symbolizes the unity and cultural heritage of the country. The Indian Constitution grants Hindi a prominent place and emphasizes the promotion and propagation of the language.
