Info: The Odisha government on Monday issued the guidelines for Subhadra Yojana, under which Rs 10,000 will be provided to each beneficiary every year in two equal instalments for a period of five years. The finance assistance scheme, named after the sister of Lord Jagannath.

The Odisha government has taken a significant step towards women's empowerment with the launch of the Subhadra Yojana. This innovative scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women in the state, ensuring their economic independence and overall well-being.

Key Features and Benefits of Subhadra Yojana

Financial Aid: Each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs 10,000 per year in two equal installments of Rs 5,000 each. This assistance will be provided for a period of five years.
Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for the scheme, applicants must be native to Odisha , aged between 21 and 60 years, and meet certain income criteria. Women from economically well-off families, government employees, and income taxpayers are not eligible.
Disbursement: Funds will be directly deposited into the beneficiaries' Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts. Additionally, they will receive a Subhadra Debit Card to facilitate digital transactions.
Incentives: To encourage digital adoption, 100 beneficiaries with the highest number of digital transactions in each gram panchayat and urban local body will receive an extra incentive of Rs 500.

The Subhadra Yojana was one of the key promises made by the BJP in its election manifesto for Odisha . The scheme's launch marks a significant step towards fulfilling this commitment and improving the lives of women in the state.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday flagged off Subhadra Yojana Awareness Rath (chariot) which will roam across Odisha creating awareness on the scheme.

Accompanied by deputy chief minister Pravatai Parida, who is also the women and child development minister, Majhi said that the Subhadra Yojana will empower women across the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his one-day visit to Odisha on September 17 will launch the state government's 'Subhadra' yojana and will also lay foundation stone and dedicate to the nation railway projects worth Rs 2,800 crore.
